Ellie

I recently joined Unity Stamps and I am so impressed with their product.  I am now receiving the KOTM (Kit of the Month) which consists of an 8x11 sheet of cling mounted rubber stamps.   In addition to the monthly kits there is a fabulous collection of other stamps to choose from.  This card was made from the set called Ellie Girl.  I think she is adorable.  I colored her with Copic Markers.

Thanks for looking:)

Mother's Day 2014

Happy Mother's Day to all moms and daughters and sons.  My mom has been gone for many years now and though a day doesn't go by without my thinking of her, she is always on my mind this weekend in particular.  I miss her and love her dearly.

I had a great time last night, though I stayed up too late…one o'clock this morning…making a card for my step-daughter Julia.  She is a mother of two little ones and I hope she will enjoy this card I made for her.  I did not know what I was going to make her.  While cruising one of my favorite SVG shops, Birds Cards, I came across this free trellis SVG file.

It became my inspiration to the card below.  The card base is a Club Scrap shimmery, heavy, green vellum.  The trellis was cut on my Klic N Kut using Make The Cut software.  The paper for the trellis is from a Kathy Davis paper pad called Butterfly Promise as is the envelope.  Lacey butterflies are a Memory Box die.  I made 4 from an Anna Griffin pad in various pink floral prints then doubled them up and added tiny pearls for the body.  Labels are PTI and the sentiment is from an unknown stamp stash of mine.

Thanks for looking and leaving a comment!

Jen's PAO May Card Sketch Challenge.

I veered a little bit from Jen's challenge on this card but the main components are present.  Jen used a great sketch from MFT:

Since I have a number of pieces of watercolored paper from Day 1&2 OCC, I thought it would be fun to use several pieces of it for Jen's sketch.  The hexagons were punched first from one of those panels and then stamped with CTMH's Honeycomb Flair hexagons.  I then applied them to another watercolored panel layering it all on Club Scrap card stocks.  I actually had a strip all prepared to run horizontally under the hexagons and just plain forgot to add it.  Oops!  LOL.   The background and hexagons were "painted" with Distress Ink pads on wet watercolor paper.  Love the intensity of the colors.

Watercolor Card Class Day 3

Day 3 brought us variations of watercolor stamping.  I chose probably one of the simplest techniques of using ink pads and spritzing the stamp with water before stamping on the paper.  I used very light water and probably could have used more for a more traditional watercolor look.  But all in all I am happy with the outcome.

Stamps are from CTMH's "A Mother's Love" clear stamp set which is a pretty two-step floral collection.  Ink pads are Stephanie Barnard's for Colorbox.  They worked pretty well and it is fun to experiment with different brands of ink pads to see what works best or how they work differently from one to another.  One day it would be fun to use all my ink pads for a comparison.  But another time for that.  Keeping up with these daily lessons are going to be challenging enough.  There are 2 other techniques for today but I doubt I will get to them during this session.  Something to look forward to at a later date.

I used Bristol paper for the first time and really like it.  Jen and Nancy have been telling me how wonderful it is and they are right.  Label is a Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix #4 Fancy Label.

Watercolor Card Class Day 2

Just time for one card today.  I chose the watercolor pencil technique using my Inktense pencils.  Very simple process of light coloring with pencils and then washing and blending with water for a light pastel look.  Die cut and sentiment from Papertrey Ink. Pretty easy and fun to do.  Tomorrow I will try the more vibrant challenge plus whatever new things they throw at us.

Watercolor Card Class Day One

OCC is holding another one of their fabulous card classes.  This time the focus is all on watercolor techniques.  It's really late and I should be in bed.  But I couldn't help push myself today to get all three of their assignments done.  Being late I won't go into any details other than I really enjoyed playing around with various watercolor styles and mediums.

First the panels I made:

and then the 3 different card assignments that went with each technique:

Cabana Club

The Stamps of Life's May Die Hard set is outstanding.  Flipflops2stamps is adorable with sandals, starfish, waves and assorted sentiments.  I pictured a scene on a faraway beach with blue waters, warm sun, rolling waves and a cabana to enjoy the scenery from.

The cabana itself was made from another TSOL set, popcorn2stamp and it's dies.  I took the popcorn box and fashioned it into a cabana by turning it up-side-down.  Card stock is from Club Stamp and Carta Bella.
